SWEETWATER BREWING COMPANY IS TAPPING INTO SOME STRANGE

First Dank Tank release from new brewhouse features a Double Black India Pale Ale that packs a punch

ATLANTA (April 2013) – SweetWater Brewery is ready to let the cat, or more appropriately the cougar, out of the bag on its latest Dank Tank series beer release – Some Strange.  This one has been in the pipeline for a bit, and was originally anticipated to be the initial beverage to christen SweetWater’s new 250-barrel brewhouse. Although upon completion earlier this year, brewers fired up the system with its annual releases to keep up with growing demand.

Now with a little breathing room, Some Strange is back, and this limited-time high gravity release is officially the first brew of the Dank Tank series to flow out of the new equipment. Promising to be a memorable experience unlike what most folks have had before, this Double Black IPA weighs down the scales at 9% ABV. Drinkers be warned, this black beauty is fired up and ready pounce on you, brewed with coffee and chocolate malts, hopped with Amarillo, Pacific Jade and Zythos, and then dry-hopped to top it off with Falconer’s Flight, Falconer’s 7 C’s and Topaz.

“It’s great to be able to introduce our new brewhouse to a Dank Tank edition that is really an experiment for all of us,” said Nick Nock, head brewer at SweetWater. “We really weren’t sure what to expect from this beer, so we went big. This is first time we’ve used some of these hops varieties in a brew, and we couldn’t be happier with what she turned out like when we were done.”

Some Strange will be packaged in 22-ounce bombers smothered in cheetah print, sure to drag you in for a closer look. These boozy bombers will hit shelves and draft taps at some of the finer locations throughout the Southeast the week of April 15. Samples will also be available on draft at SweetWater’s Tasting Room on select tour dates. Make sure you smuggle these to the cellar too, Danky isn’t one to linger long.
